Henry Gamse joined Copernicus in October 1993 to lead the firm's statistical and modeling division. He is our market segmentation expert. He designs and supervises the data analysis for virtually all of Copernicus' large-scale quantitative studies, many of which involve market segmentation and targeting work. He began his career in marketing consulting and research with Clancy Shulman and Associates, which he joined directly out of graduate school in 1987.

At Yankelovich Clancy Shulman, Henry was involved in strategic and lifestyle research, with a particular emphasis on market segmentation, for the firm's largest clients and played a key role in developing the international capabilities of the firm.

In addition to his extensive experience and deep knowledge of marketing, Henry has a strong background in Psychology. Prior to entering Syracuse University's doctoral program in Social Psychology, he served as staff psychologist for an industrial training program in Baltimore, Maryland.

Henry has published work on market segmentation issues and other marketing research topics in various journals, including An End to Doorstops: Market Segmentation Studies Should Do More Than Sit on Your Floor, in Marketing Research. His thoughts on market segmentation can also be found in a recent interview in The Copernicus Mzine:

Henry has given seminars and talks on market segmentation and marketing research techniques for companies and organizations including the American Marketing Association and the Association of National Advertisers. His humorous approach to complex markets segmentation topics and marketing issues has earned him positive reviews at conferences, as well as the gratitude of clients.

Henry holds an MBA in Marketing and a Masters degree in Social Psychology from Syracuse University, and a Masters degree in Experimental Psychology from Towson University. He has completed all requirements except a dissertation for a doctoral degree in Social Psychology from Syracuse.
