The American Marketing Association's Marketing Research Conference Promises to Make Business Sense of What's Next
Copernicus' Peter Krieg offers his insights to attendees on October 6
September 4, 2009 (Boston, MA)—Mark your calendars for the AMA's 2009 Marketing Research Conference, the most popular professional development forum for marketing reseachers. Each year the conference offers an impressive agenda, covering hot issues, global trends, new approaches, and case studies in exceptional research outcomes, and attracts an eager audience of over 500 participants.
In a not-to-miss concurrent session on October 6, at 3:50 pm-4:30 pm, Peter Krieg, President and CEO of Copernicus, will offer researchers a plan to substantially improve the impact of their efforts to support decision-making in key strategic areas.
"Legend has it that increasing media spending will increase sales," Peter explains. "If you want to see more sales, spend more money—25% more; 50% more; double your budget! But again and again, we've seen that this common assumption doesn't hold up." In fact, says Peter, increasing spending rarely increases profitability and sometimes doesn’t even boost sales, "unless, that is, changes in marketing strategy happen simultaneously."
In "Save Your Money, Your Job and Your Brand with Business-Focused Marketing Research," the co-author of Your Gut Is Still Not Smarter than Your Head will demonstrate that the ROI of using research to identify and implement winning targeting, positioning, and advertising strategies far exceeds the performance results from increasing media spending alone. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of how to integrate financial and managerial criteria into research and analysis efforts in order to build a business case for different marketing decisions.
The 2009 Marketing Research Conference runs October 4-7, 2009, at the Marriott Palm Desert in Palm Springs, CA. For a full agenda and registration information visit: http://www.marketingpower.com/Calendar/Pages/MarketingResearchEvent_2009Conference.aspx
